The Juneteenth Community Celebration returns to MTP for the 5th Year!

 

5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration at Melrose Trading Post

Hosted by Comedian Sampson McCormick

Sunday, June 14th From 10AM-5PM at Fairfax High School

Join us at the Melrose Trading Post on Sunday, June 14, 2026 for a community celebration at the Greenway Main Stage.   The theme is, “Claiming the Future” and the planning committee has brought together a line-up filled with musicians, artists, poets, wellness practicioners, educators and small businesses creatively sharing their gifts to channel joy.

Waist Bead Making & History Workshop

Waist beads are traditional African adornments made of small glass beads worn around the waist or hips. Used for centuries in West African cultures, they symbolize femininity and heritage, often marking important life events and believed to offer protection and healing.


Caribbean Expressions: A Cultural Craft Lounge

Celebrate culture, creativity, and freedom through hands-on Juneteenth & Caribbean-inspired art & craft experiences for all ages.
Featuring carnival-inspired crafts, empowerment-themed coloring, and a festive photo opt zone presented by the Caribbean Women’s Collective!
